PREVIEW OF CHAPTER 2 - SO YOU WANT TO FLY (FIRST DRAFT-UNEDITED)
Trolley dolly, Cart tart, Galley bitch doesn't exactly fit the description of the original glamorous title of 'Stewardess'. Predominantly now a female role, the history books tell us that a male by the name of Heinrich Kubis was the first steward, who began working solo on the smaller Zeppelin Airships in 1912. Later on, Kubis was a crew member of the well known larger Zeppelin Airship called the 'Hindenburg'. You may remember hearing of the Hindenburg Disaster, when in 1937 it caught fire and of the 97 people on board, 35 died. Interestingly, history also states that there were other steward's on board the HB and one of these a female by the name of Emilie Imhoff, who must have been the first 'stewardess'. Other research shows that a 25year old lady by the name of Ellen Church, a registered nurse, was the first 'Stewardess' hired by United Airlines in 1930........
